Does the black community really care what Imus said....?

To start with I'm a 27 year old white male. I believe that all races were created equal and what we do is entirely based on upbringing and personal choices. In my professional life I have people of all races report to me and some of my direct supervisors are of different races. In my personal life I have had friends of all races.

Now that I got that out of the way, I was wondering if the majority of the black community really cared what Imus said about that women’s team? I’m not a big fan of Imus, but it was obviously a joke. If he was a black man and he called a group of white women pimply faced crackers, do you think we would see the same outrage and eventual dismissal?

Its political correctness turned upside down. If it was a black person who said that about white people no1 would even care. Look at any chris rock show, or any other black comedy. Its blatant outright racism. I think Imus is the sad target of paranoia.
First of All its a double standard. If 50 cent raps about Hoes, and says n i g g a all the time well hes safe because hes black. If he says Craka, nothing happens. If he says i hate crakas, wel "hes being oppressed by white people". If Don Imus says Those are some nappy headed hoes, well hes a racist, bigot...blah blah. He gets fired and has to meet with Al Sharpton who is the BIGGEST racist. And Jessie Jackson who defended that Black bit ch in Durham who occused those white kids of raping her, even before the facts came out? I hope those white kids sue THE **** out of that black girl, and i hope DON IMUS sues the **** out of the TV station for firing him for freedom of speech! This **** is insane and overboard. Black people need to lighten up, OR if they are going to impose such views for white people...they need to do the same for Themselves! If you dont want Whites using N i g g a or HOES then dont use it yourself!!!! No double standards!
Yes, the African American community cared, and a lot of others did too. It was not a joke, it was mean and uncalled for, and I would feel the same if the comments/ethnic groups were reversed.
Just like you I did not know who Don Imus was until the report came up in the news! I am a news fanatic so when I heard the story my first response was "Oh well" then as it came up on the different news stations, my opinion became that of "That is between him and the girls of that b-ball team!"

Your question was?

Does the black community really care what Imus said

My answer is no! Even though I don't speak for all black people.

I believe in the fact that the majority of Americans really don't watch the news, so you can imagine the number black Americans, that don't or listen to Talk radio.

America is unfortunately a country that is very mis-informed or lives in ignorance.

My friends and family when they were told of the story asked who is Don Imus? then they shrugged there shoulders!

The real issue with Don Imus is he has been on the air for about 40 years and he was offensive to a lot people! He was also loved and admired by many. This is really a bigger issue than what we are seeing played out here. This basket-ball team was an excuse to get Imus off the air. They are not the real reason why he lost his job.

The real reason has to do with politics and Dick Cheney!

Don't believe the Hype!
The black community is in the middle of a fight for their kid's grandkid's etc, etc,'s equality. Of course they care when pple make racist comments on the airways. It seems like everytime they get one step forward we pull them back two steps. Would you call Rosa Parks "nappy headed"? She's a national treasure!! Hate can only stop when those who spread it recognize their problem. We invite all pple into this country- just to ridicule and suppress them!! Ghandi is spinnin in his grave.
I be honest wid yo cracka self. I care less what Imus be sayin, but I like havin da power to bring whitey down.
It's high time that many people

became aware of the following fact:

There is absolutely *no such thing* as a

singular, homogenous "black community”

Instead, there are many, many different

varieties of “communities” which have

been labeled as being "black" and there

are a great deal of diversity of opinions and

types of people found within each of them.

An excellent source is the book:

"DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE: -- Fighting

Cultural Information about African-Americans"

(-- written by Newsweek and Meet the

Press correspondent, 'Ferai Chideya')
