consider a random sample of 15 community college students from this state.

what are the expected value and standard deviation of this binomial distribution?

thanks y'all!

A study of community college enrollments in a certain state find that 60% of students are younger than 20.?my myspace

The expected value (mean) of a binomial distribution is np, where n is the number in the sample and p is the probability of success.

Expected value = (15)(.20) = 3

The standard deviation is sqrt(np(1-p)).

SD = sqrt(15(.20)(.80))

= sqrt(2.4)

= 1.54919334
