Saying Sorry to the Aboriginal community?

I want to know what people think of the Goverment saying Sorry to the Aboriginal community for taking us way from our familts as kids, Do you think this was right ?

Do you think that the aboriginal community should be paid out?

Im Aboriginal and from what I know of my Poppy was stolen from his family, but he isnt around to hear this sorry nor is my father too, So should the family members of those who were stolen but arent around to claim this, should I be able to do this on behave of my pop?!

I'm not against saying sorry but there were a lot of others taken from their parents in those years, children of single parents, children of the poor amongst others. Then there was the orphans shipped from Britain to work in various places. They were harsh times.
As an Aussie I think it's long overdue, I know my generation wasn't responsible for the wrong doing but we still should show remorse for the atrocities that the aboriginal people have had trust opon them.

Yes other Australians have suffered some misdoings as well but that was because of their situation not their skin colour,

I also know that how we apologise is just as important as saying we are sorry
I believe Australia should say sorry but I don't believe in financial compensation. I am probably living in a dream land but I want Australians to put aside their prejudices and embrace Aboriginal Australia. I live in a rural area and despite there being an Aboriginal population I find it disconcerting that I do not see these people in the community - working, at restaurants, celebrating etc. I have seen and heard disguisting attitudes towards aborigines purely for the fact that they are aboriginal. I had a period in my life where I was so embarrased to be white around aborignal people because I was ashamed of what people have done to them. The only thing I think I can do is to treat you and everybody else the same regardless of colour, race, problems etc. This is the outcome I envisage from todays ceremony that ALL Australians find that inner 'give everybody a go' that has not been in our community for a very long time.
Well we are Aboriginal people, and we think that if you were a so called Aboriginal then you would understand. and i think that the one of the Aboriginal ladies were right on the news as she said she doesnt want to be compensated but just apologized too. we were a people who were forcefully pushed to the margins of society. and now that kevin rudd is the new pm, maybe we will get somewhere.
