I was talking with my brother the other day about some issues within our community. And was surprised when he told me that he could care less. He told me that the only people he was concerned with was his immediated family(his wife, kids, brothers, sisters and parents). At first I thought this was a very selfish attitude, but after doing some thinking I couldn't help but to wonder if he was right. If every parent in our community taught their children how to act and teach them the life lessons that they need to succeed. Wouldn't that as a whole help the black community, one family at a time?
Should we stop trying to save the black community?how to view private myspace
The rub is this:
"how to act and teach them the life lessons that they need to succeed"
This is not as easy as it sounds.
If you raise your family to care only about your family, how are you any different than animals that care about teaching their young the "lessons they need to succeed" so that they can propogate and create more species, their species.
The very definition of civilization includes to care about your family and your neighborhood and your city-state.

Save them from what?
I think that would help any community.
Your brother is right. You can only save those in your immediate circle %26amp; sometimes you can't even save them. I can talk as a Black person. I don't live in "the Black community." I live in a neighborhood where not many Blacks live. I think we get hung up on trying to help ALL Blacks and you can't do it. If someone hasn't taught their child it's wrong to point at others in department stores %26amp; laugh out loud at them or that it's wrong to take a gun %26amp; shoot someone because someone laughs at you in a department store I can't do anything about that person they're just lost.
You cant save those who dont want to be saved for one...... And saved from what???? I'll tell ya what, saved from what their parents and grandparents have brought upon themselves.... Poverty? Welfare supports their worlthless butts.......The average black person would rather live in a shack and receive $400 in welfare and food stamps than work a part time job.....Or steal and commmit crime for a living....... This was nobody elses fault but thier own....... Lazy people, no doubt.
Problem is, no one in the black community knows who's kid is who's. Sista with 8 kids and 8 different daddies. Not a one wants to take responsibility.
Truth is, one person at a time is helpful, it takes one person to make a change,to show others that there is hope and before you know it the domino effect has taken over. give it a shot. you never know, his famly might make a difference. Martin Luther King did, Rosa Parks did. All single people who influenced todays socity. Keep an open mind. changes start at home.
I wasn't even aware that we have been trying to save the black community, don't ask me. Haha.
That makes perfect sense. I don't see why these people are making these stupid comments about lack people. If I said something about their white *** they would be mad. They need to chill the **** out. But anyway I think it would help not only the black community but the white, hispanic, asain, indian and who ever else.
Too many people who are parents don't spend quality time with their kids to teach them basic morals in life. I live in the Caribbean and something as simple as manners has been broken down through the generations. Most of these parents did not grow up with good parenting, many from single parent homes and others whose parents did not know better.
However change is possible but the individual must be willing to make that change first. No one can make it 4 them.
i think we should stop talking about race, don't you?
No, I don't think we should stop. Never stop trying to go into the poverty stricken communities. Never stop lending a hand and showing support. There are so many people and every day is a struggle for survival. There are good people living in these communities, all they need is to get out of that environment with a little help.
amen brother, instead of lumping yourself to a particular group, concentrate on living the best life you can, lead by example
